Subject: Choosing the right domain name
Date posted: 10th May 2009
Choosing a domain name may seem like the easiest thing in the world but choosing the right one is important. As well as trying to pick one that hasn't already been taken, it will also help your search engine rankings if keywords were located within your domain name.
There are also some other important tips that you should take into consideration before committing to a domain name:
- Pick a domain that will be memorable and easy to spell - Short and sweet is certainly the name of the game here; the best ones are normally the catchiest.
- Choose the right extension - Many of us get confused on which suffix to use as there are so many to choose from; there is no hard and fast rule however .com and .co.uk are the most popular.
- Ask around - Test the ones you like on your family and friends to get their views and opinions.
- Make sure it can't be misread - often when words are bunched together another word entirely can be formed.
